Symi Island

A day trip to Symi Island is definitely a must. Reaching the island is easy, with several boat departures from Rhodes Port each morning and return journeys in the late afternoon or evening. Tickets can be booked online through platforms such as Ferry Hopper, and we recommend reserving in advance, especially during the summer season.

Some ferries also allow you to bring a car or scooter if you wish to explore further, although Symi can just as easily be enjoyed on foot.

One tip: during summer, temperatures can get very high. Upon arrival, we suggest heading straight to the small beach lido to secure a sunbed and enjoy a refreshing swim before exploring the island. Later in the day, make your way back towards the port, wandering through Symi's colorful harbor, narrow streets, and charming corners at your own pace.

And one thing you absolutely should not miss: the famous Symi shrimp. Served in tavernas all across the island, these small local shrimp are one of Symi's signature specialties and are traditionally eaten whole. Most tavernas serve them, so simply look around for a spot open at lunchtime and enjoy them wherever feels right.
